Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group
The Alzheimer’s Association provides a support group for caregivers at the Clio Senior Center. It will be held on the 3rd Monday of each month from 6:30 until 8:00p.m. This is an opportunity for those in our area to find a support group designed especially for them.
Support Groups are the heart of the Alzheimer’s Association. These classes are attended by families, caregivers and friends of persons with Alzheimer’s Disease and other related dementia disorders. The group welcomes new persons at all times and particularly encourages attendance by those who have newly diagnosed Alzheimer’s patients in their families.
Attorney Michael Thomas
If you have need of legal help pertaining to estate planning, Medicaid, probate, sheltering assets, VA qualifying, surviving spouse protection, inheritance or other concerns feel free to make an appointment with Michael Thomas for the first Wednesday of the month starting at 1:00.
Blood Pressure Checks
You can have your blood pressure checked at CASC! The Health Room will be staffed by a retired nurse Monday and Friday between 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Commodity Food Distribution
We are a distribution site for the Commodity Surplus Food Program. Distribution is held on the second Wednesday morning of each month from 9:30 to 12:00. Please arrange to pick up your commodities on the scheduled day as we cannot store extra boxes of food.
If you feel you may qualify, please contact Patty at the Center to sign up. You will need proof of household income and proof of residency (driver’s license). The income guidelines for this program for those over 60 years of age is based on household income as follows:
- 1 person – less than $1,307.00 monthly
- 2 persons – less than $1,760.00 monthly
TEFAP months are March, June, September, and December.
We are a host site for the Congregate Meal Program through GCCARD. The lunch menu can be found in the monthly newsletter. A $2.00 donation for 60 years and older is requested and $3.50 for 59 and under, or those living outside of Genesee County, is required. Please call by noon the day before to reserve a meal. GCCARD lunch is served at noon Monday through Thursday of each week.
Dr. Robert Bouvier
Dr. Bouvier takes appointments or walk-ins on the third Friday of the month at CASC. He is a primary care physician who believes his success is based on building strong relationships with people. To make an appointment call his office at 810-694-7412.
The Kitchen Crew makes a home-cooked meal on the first, third, and fifth Friday of the month. Meals are generally $5.00. Sign up and pay by the Wednesday before to enjoy this scrumptious meal!
Pizza is offered on the second and fourth Friday of each month. Reservations, and personal order, are required by Thursday at noon.
Grief and Loss
C-SAM offers a group class on the third Thursday of the month at 6:00 to help people who are dealing with the issues associated with the death of a loved one. Please feel free to join us. Reservation requested. Sponsored by O’Guinn Funeral Homes.

We do rent the Center to individuals or organizations on an hourly basis. For more information on hall rentals please call CASC at 810-687-7260 and ask for Bruce.
General rental information:
- Deposit of $200 required to secure the facility.
- Room rates vary from $30/hour for groups of up to 40 and $70/hour for a group of up to 250.
- Kitchen rate is $15/hour when added to a room rental.
- $25 cleaning fee for all rentals.
- Liability insurance is required.
- Alcohol is not permitted anywhere on the property.
Legal Services Offers Drop-In Service
A representative from Legal Services of Eastern Michigan is available to meet with seniors, age 60 and older, at the center on the third Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. If you have a need for FREE legal consultation on senior related issues please call CASC to make an appointment. 810-687-7260
Certified Massage Therapist, Emily Maurer, is at the Center on Thursday afternoons She offers a ten minute therapeutic chair massage for $7.00. Please call for an appointment. A massage helps increase blood circulation, combat depression, improve balance and flexibility, improve posture, provide relaxation and stress relief. Medical Equipment Repair
AMS provides repair service each month on the third Tuesday at 11:00. If you are in need of some repair on a piece of medical equipment please stop by. Appointments are not necessary.
Medical Loan Closet
We loan out, for free, many types of medical assistance devices. We have walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs and commodes that are available. Call CASC, 810-687-7260, or stop at the front desk to check on availability of equipment.
We accept these types of equipment, as well, if they are clean and in good working condition. We cannot accept machines, breathing equipment, blood pressure equipment, or blood testing equipment of any kind.
The MiCAFE Network helps individuals apply for benefits that meet their basic needs: including utilites, food, housing, medical assistance, and prescription drugs. Application assistance is offered at CASC for those who are 60 and older. Call 810-687-7260 and ask for Patty.
MMAP (Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program)
MMAP Counselor, Susan Marlow, will be available to see Medicare beneficiaries on Tuesdays by appointment. This is a free service that can assist people in making health insurance decisions (including Medicare at age 65). Other appointment times may be available if necessary – please call the front desk 810-687-7260 to schedule an appointment.
Thanks to generous donors, we generally have a supply of disposable undergarments and disposable bed pads that we are able to give away. Please stop in and see us if you are in need of these items.
We also accept the above-mentioned items as donations; however they must be in clean, unopened packages. We do not accept articles of clothing, footwear, or wigs.
Our van can transport you to and from CASC, and/or local grocery shopping on our regularly scheduled days Monday through Friday. A fee is charged of $2.00 each way locally, or you can purchase a punch card which reduces the fee to $1.75 per ride. Transportation to and from the Center is only provided to those who reside within Vienna Township, Thetford Township, or the City of Clio.
Vet To Vet Talks
Join Dutch and other comrads on the second Monday of the month at 11:00 to discuss issues only those who have served our country can relate to. This is a group discussion – reservations are not required.
Our van provides shopping on a weekly basis at 12:30. We go to Walmart on the first, third and fifth Monday of the month and we go to VG’s on the second and fourth Monday. Call CASC to be placed on the van list. Van rides are $2.00 for our regularly scheduled shopping trips.
